Wild Wild West

As we slowly come out of lock down and life returns to a semi-normal pace some of us may start to crave the slower pace and quieter times of lockdown. Let our property buying agent, Anna introduce you to West Cornwall, where life is always a little slower and finding phone signal is often hard…

West Cornwall is often associated with its rugged and wild coastline, sandy surf beaches of St Ives, the Minack theatre at or even the quaint fishing village of Mousehole. But there is more than meets the eye, your Recoco property finder Anna runs through some of the top things to do…

Foodies’ Corner

Spend an afternoon in Zennor and make sure to pre-book a table at the Gurnards Head, a treat you will not regret for the taste buds. Follow this up with a moo maid of Zennor ice cream! (My favourite is the shipwreck!)

Coastal Walk

Take a hike from the most westerly point in the country at Cape Cornwall to the long sandy beach and village of Sennen, perhaps even stop for a picnic along the way.

Gardens

Visit the exotic and sub-tropical sculpture gardens of Tremenheere, a great place to take the kids. Also enjoy the locally sourced and homemade food at Tremenheere kitchen.

Swim

Take a swim at the Jubliee Pool in Penzance. The UK’s largest art deco sea water and geothermal lido, the café serves a great selection of food and drink to warm up after your dip!

Art Galleries

Amongst the renown Tate gallery there are plenty more to visit in and around West Penwith, including Essex Tyler’s gallery in Mousehole and the Jackson foundation in St Just.

Antiques Shops

Wander and browse around the eclectic range of antique shops in Newlyn and Penzance and come across some interesting finds.

Cream Tea

Enjoy a traditional Cornish cream tea, served in the traditional Cornish manner, in the walled National Trust gardens of Trengwainton Tearooms, Penzance.

Surf

Get a lesson with St Ives surf school, either with a group, or perhaps a private lesson just for the family.

Go to the most westerly point: Visit Land’s End, the UK’s most westerly point, with dramatic 200-foot-high cliffs. Enjoy the incredible view out towards the sea, Longships Lighthouse and to the Isles of Scilly beyond.

Beyond the Mainland

If you find yourself at a loss why not take a trip to the Isles of Scilly, a stunning collection of white sand beach islands with miles of coastal walks and plenty of delicious eateries, shops and art galleries.

Perhaps the quieter and slower pace of life in West Cornwall might suit you. If you would like more information and assistance with your search in this area or any other part of Cornwall , do not hesitate to contact our Recoco buying agent, Anna (als@recoco.co.uk / 07415614041) who will be delighted to answer any queries and discuss your search in more detail.
