A Great Day Out in Cornwall

Cornwall is often associated with an outdoorsy lifestyle, water-based activities and long country walks, however there is plenty on offer for those who seek other activities. Property buying agent, Anna Sharp from Recoco runs you through her top ten days out in Cornwall.

Art Galleries

Cornwall has been well recognised as an artistic hot spot since the early 19th century and it is easy to see why with wild landscapes, the stunning natural light and seascapes. Visit the famed Tate Gallery St Ives, or one of the smaller independents such as The Tyler Gallery in Mousehole, The Lifeboat Art Studio in Porthleven or one of the many Whistlefish galleries dotted around the county.

Vineyards, Breweries, and Cider Farms

It would be a shame to move or visit Cornwall and miss out on tasting the local produce. Why not spend a day at Camel Valley or Polgoon Vineyard, touring Healey’s cider farm or St Austell brewery, well-known for the Cornish Ale, Tribute.

Gardens

Famed for the sub-tropical climate discover some of the county’s stunning gardens; The Lost Gardens of Heligan on The Roseland Peninsula, The Eden Project or Tremeneere Sculpture Gardens in West Cornwall are just a few of our Cornwall buying agent’s favourites.

Bike Trails

There are several bike trails for all abilities from the Bissoe Cycle Trail linking coast to coast from Devoran to Portreath. The Camel Trail is located on the north coast and offers a child friendly route from Wadebridge to Padstow.

Theatres

The Minack Theatre dramatically set on the edge of the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean is just one of the places to enjoy the arts and dramas within the county. Pop up companies such as the Miracle Theatre group tour smaller and magical venues such as Enys or Trebah Gardens.

Cream Teas

One cannot miss a visit to Cornwall without tasting our famous cream tea. They are the point of greatest debate and rivalry between our neighbours in Devon; cream then jam (Devon) or jam then cream (Cornwall)? - You decide!

Maritime Museums

The county has a rich maritime history, spend some time at the Natural Maritime Museum in Falmouth or The Shipwreck Treasure Museum in Charlestown.

Castles

Located around the county discover castles on a mount to rugged hilltop fortresses. St Michaels Mount in the west and Tintagel located in the north of the county are worth a visit.

Mines

Visit one of Cornwall’s famous mines and opt for an underground tour. Up until the 20th century Cornwall was one of the most important mining areas in Europe, today Geevor is the largest preserved tin mine site in the country!

Foodie’s Corner

Over the years Cornwall has become a foodie heaven with the likes of celebrity chefs such as Michael Caines recently setting up in Falmouth and Porthleven to our local chefs such as Simon Stallard at the Hidden Hut in Portscatho. You will not be far from a culinary delight!

For our Cornish property finder Anna, “it’s all about coming home”.
