Cornwall
Cornwall was iconic and appealing enough anyway after a 1980s/1990s burst in popularity…and then along came Poldark. The BBC television series which re-booted the 1970s classic based on books about Cornish intrigue and romance seemed to create a whole new love affair for the Duchy, among UK visitors and beyond.
And little wonder why – Cornwall just about has it all. Dramatic, sweeping beaches, rugged, windswept coves, pretty historic fishing villages and wide open, isolated moors. Add in the pretty city of Truro and at least half a dozen other characterful and charismatic major towns and it is little wonder the county is not only a magnet for holidaymakers each year – it’s the choice of many property buyers too.
These property purchasers may be moving to Cornwall lock, stock and barrel or they may be choosing to buy a pretty second home but the truth is the county has never been as popular for those who want bricks and mortar in a truly iconic place.

Truro – not your average city in terms of size, but above average in terms of amenities, the civic capital of Cornwall has charming, quaint streets, a fabulous Cathedral and plenty of amenities, meaning it is a big draw for those wanting the choice of a wide range of available properties.
Falmouth – predicated on the water which surrounds it, with ts large commercial and pleasure-going harbour, Falmouth has a fantastic mix of characterful properties and modern flats and apartments.
St Mawes – what was once a quaint, quiet Cornish fishing village retains much of its historic charm but it is no longer a backwater…indeed St Mawes can justifiably lay claim to being one of the most popular property hotspots in Cornwall.
Penzance – almost at the tip of the UK, Penzance is worth the long journey, offering as it does a charm and appeal way beyond many places. Looking out over Penzance Bay with iconic St Michael's Mount standing sentry, Penzance is a town on the rise, which is reflected in its growing popularity.
St Ives – beloved of artists and holidaymakers, St Ives is a truly special place. Crystal blue waters lap against the harbour wall and beaches and the light just seems, well, different in this picture postcard place. Add in the presence of the Tate St Ives gallery and this is a town which has every justification to term itself iconic.
