Truro

Cornwall’s only city and yet Truro retains the feel more of a large town, the quaint cobbled streets in its centre giving it an historic feel, only heightened by the looming presence of The Cathedral at its centre.

The administrative capital of the county, Truro sits at the head of Carrick Roads, the picturesque creeks and inlets which mean the River Fal is negotiable from Falmouth all the way to the city. Boats still moor up at its commercial and leisure harbours, but the water is very tidal here and, as such, the city’s influence as a port has waned over the years.

Nonetheless, it remains a thriving business and commercial hub with attractive streets, a fine choice of dining out establishments and a busy leisure scene. The ever-present river provides plenty of opportunity for waterside living too.
